Veterans’ Welcome Home Event Set August 30, 2013Posted: August 30, 2013
ALBUQUERQUE – Veterans of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn (OEF/OIF/OND) are invited to attend a Welcome Home Event on Aug. 30 at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center, 1501 San Pedro SE, Albuquerque.
This special event will run from 2 to 4 p.m. in the medical center’s Canteen Courtyard. The event will offer free refreshments and will feature several information tables set up to provide a variety of resources for veterans.
Representatives will be on hand to answer veterans’ questions about several programs, including OEF/OIF/OND, Mental Health, Women’s Health, Chaplain Service, Visual Impairment Services Team (VIST), Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), New Mexico Department of Veterans Services, and Workforce Solutions.
“Often we find veterans returning home from combat have been educated about the many different services available to them, but aren’t aware of how these services might meet their individual needs,” said Melissa Middleton, OEF/OIF/OND Program Manager. “This event gives all veterans, regardless of when they served, an opportunity to speak with VA and community representatives one-on-one to get their questions answered, to get assistance with navigating the resources, and to learn about VA and community resources and benefits they may not have known are available to them.”
